The following services are provided by Active Directory and Infrastructure Services:

• NIH External Active Directory
• Dynamic DNS
  Dynamic DNS (DDNS) is an addition to the DNS standard. Dynamic DNS defines a protocol for dynamically updating a DNS server with new of changed values. DDNS provides automatic IP address changes without having to manually configure records stored by DNS servers. NIH CIT DCSS runs DDNS internally and BIND DNS externally. NIH.GOV DNS Server addresses are 156.40.70.10 and 156.40.74.10. If an IC needs a DNS record created for external and internal use, please contact the the BIND administrators at http://www.net.nih.gov/DNS/. If an IC needs a DNS record for internal use only, please send an email to the NIH Help Desk at ITHelpdesk@nih.gov.
• Active Directory Application Mode / LDAP directory
  For organizations that require flexible support for directory-enabled applications, EMIB operates ADAM, which is a Microsoft product. This provides LDAP directory services that run as a user service, rather than a system service. Email nihadog@mail.nih.gov  for further information.
• Active Directory Management (ADM)
  ADM is NIH's tool to manage Active Directory. ADM can be run as a web-based or remote console by Institute administrators to manage their Institute's AD users and mailboxes, groups, distribution lists, and computer objects. ADM can be accessed using Internet Explorer at https://adm.nih.gov. ADM provides the features administrators are familiar with Active Directory Users and Computers. In addition, it provides a management activity and history done to the account with ADM. ADM provides Institute adminstrators the ability to granularly assign roles to IC admin staff to do specific tasks (i.e. set password, unlock accounts). ADM console software and updates are on the iSDP website (http://isdp.cit.nih.gov/downloads/server_microsoft_adm.asp) along with documentation.
